3-5 Discussed what positive self-talk is and practiced using it. We made a shield that included positive self-talk such as; I can do it, Keep trying, You’ve Got this or pictures of people and things that comfort us when things get tough. I encourage students to continue to add to and use their shield. 3-5 Discussed Growth Mindset: The focus was on mistakes are for learning. We learned about a few famous people and what they did to preserve when others told them they couldn’t or weren’t good enough. I had student relate to their lives and reflect on something that was hard at first. Then explain what they did to keep going to learn the skill.
